Michael Carrick is an English professional football coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Premier League club Manchester United. He is best known for his 12-year playing career with Manchester United, which he also captained in his final season there. Carrick was a midfielder who primarily played in a deep-lying role, but he was also used as an emergency centre-back under Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and José Mourinho.
